Eden’s Children after school programs provide Imago students with opportunities for enrichment in music, the arts, and other subjects. Additionally, we offer traditional aftercare which includes a supervised study hall for independent work, games, free play, and outdoor recreation.

Aftercare Fees:
Ages 5+ (at the start of school year): $9/hr ($.15/min)
Age 4 and under (at the start of school year): $20/hr ($.33/min)

Aftercare
Aftercare registration opens each August before the school year begins. For 2026–2027, registration will be open August 4–21, 2026. Families register once for the entire school year.
Registered families may email edenschildren@imagoschool.org at any time with ad hoc requests or permanent schedule changes that arise throughout the year. Families who are not yet registered but find that they need regular aftercare may also contact us directly at any point during the school year to arrange enrollment.

Special Classes

CLUBS
Chess: TUESDAYS
Eligible Students: Grades 1–8
Chess is fun! It’s the game of kings! Over 600 million people play regularly!
Unleash your inner grandmaster with Mr. Ben Holt, enthusiastic chess lover who makes the game as fun as it is challenging! Whether you’re brand new to chess or already know your way around the board, this club is for you. Mr. Holt brings the perfect mix of passion and knowledge to each session, helping students of all levels sharpen their skills and enjoy the rich strategy of the game. You’ll work on some fundamentals, openings, and strategies; then play some games the rest of the time. Join us and become pawns in Mr. Holt’s scheme — to play more chess!

Tolkien/Lewis: Thursdays

We are delighted that what began as Tolkien Thursdays with The Hobbit is now growing into Tolkien/Lewis Thursdays!
Last term, Mr. Ben Holt brought The Hobbit to life, complete with voices. As Term 1 begins, the club continues its literary journey, stepping through the wardrobe into C. S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia. Lewis and Tolkien were close friends, fellow Christians, and members of the Inklings, a group of writers who met regularly to read their works aloud and sharpen one another’s thinking. Each man deeply influenced the other. Together, their stories point toward what is true, good, and beautiful.
Students should bring a bagged lunch and water bottle, and are welcome to knit or keep their hands busy while they listen.

NATURE ART: THURSDAYs
Eligible Students: Grades 1–4
Join Mrs. Jill Holt as students create projects using nature's toolbox! Class time will include both indoor and outdoor activities gathering materials from nature, along with literary read-alouds and nature songs. Students should come prepared with appropriate outdoor clothing and bug spray if desired.
Students should bring a bagged lunch and water bottle.

MUSIC LESSONS
Beginner keyboard: Mondays
Eligible Students: Grades 1–8
Mrs. Anna Anderson introduces students to the fundamentals of keyboard in a fun and encouraging environment. Students will learn basic keyboard skills while progressing at their own pace. Class time includes group instruction along with opportunities for individual progress. By the end of the class, each student will be able to play a piece of music on the keyboard!

Prelude Strings: TUESDAYS
Eligible Students: Grades 2+
Mrs. Anna Anderson, who holds an M.A. in Music Education, brings over 25 years of teaching experience to the Prelude Strings class, where students will learn the fundamentals of violin, viola, cello, or double bass. No experience is necessary. Enrolled students must make their own arrangements to rent or purchase the instrument of their choice and to purchase the Essential Elements for Strings (book 1).

Sinfonietta Strings: WednesDAYS
Eligible Students: 3+ years of experience
Mrs. Anna Anderson, who holds an M.A. in Music Education, brings over 25 years of teaching experience to the Sinfonietta Strings class, where students with at least one year of experience on their instruments are invited to continue their progress. Violin, viola, cello, and double bass players are welcome. Eligible students have at least 3 years experience on their instrument. Enrolled students must make their own arrangements to rent or purchase the instrument of their choice and to purchase the Essential Elements for Strings (book 1).

Advanced Recorder: WEDNESDAYS
Eligible Students: Grades 4–8 (Completed Recorder in Grade 3)
Imago veteran, Mrs. Julie Joyner, further instructs students who have completed the first recorder class in third grade. They will have the opportunity to learn more about the recorder and reading music in a fun, rewarding atmosphere. There may also be possibilities for duet and ensemble playing. Enrolled students must make their own arrangements to purchase a recorder.

CLARINET: WEDNESDAYS
Eligible Students: Grades 7+ (By invitation only)
Under the instruction of Imago veteran, Mrs. Julie Joyner, former Recorder Ensemble students will progress to playing clarinet together in an ensemble in order to increase listening, counting, intonation and additional musical skills. Music repertoire will increase in difficulty as the year progresses. This course requires diligent at-home practice. Enrolled students must make their own arrangements to purchase or rent a clarinet.

Young Beginner Guitar: wednesdays
Eligible Students: No Experience Required
Students will learn simple chords and melodies in this fun and approachable introduction to guitar, taught by Mrs. Jill Holt. To participate, each student should bring a guitar with all strings, a guitar tuner, a few picks, and a three-ring binder or folder to keep their music organized. We recommend junior-sized classical guitars for beginners, though even smaller “kid-sized” guitars can work well for learning basic skills; there’s really no one-size-fits-all. Students should plan to practice at least 30 minutes per week — more is even better! Enrolled students must make their own arrangements to rent or purchase a guitar.

Beginner Guitar: WEDNESDAYS
Eligible Students: 1 + years experience
Under the instruction of Mr. Ben Holt, students will learn fundamentals such as how to hold, tune, strum, and play basic chords, leading up to performing simple songs, and learning picking techniques. Ben studied Music Education at the University of Massachusetts (Lowell) and has worked as a music teacher since 1999. No experience is necessary. Enrolled students must make their own arrangements to rent or purchase a guitar and secure a tablature notebook.

Deborah Parks | Director
Assistant Director: Operations, Development, & Finance
Debbie Parks joined the Imago School staff in 2023 and currently serves as Assistant Director of Operations, Development, and Finance. Debbie helped to develop and implement Imago’s afterschool program — known as Eden’s Children — and currently serves as its Director.
A native of New York City, Debbie holds a B.S. in Political Science and was formerly a Business Analyst in the financial services industry. Her business background, paired with her passion for learning and her conviction that everyone has unique gifts to offer, has been the driving force behind her projects and work at Imago.
Debbie and her husband, Ian, are the proud parents of two sons and two daughters, most of whom were homeschooled at some point by Debbie, but are now all current Imago students. Although only one of four was born in New York, all of the kids somehow ended up Yankees fans.
heather ezzy | coordinator
Heather Ezzy is thrilled to join the Imago family as Eden’s Children Coordinator. She has been privileged to know many of the past and present staff and students at Imago over the years and is looking forward to working with them.
She has lived in Massachusetts most of her life and currently lives in Maynard with her husband and their twenty-four-year-old son. Their twenty-two-year-old married daughter lives in Ohio.
She has a bachelor's degree in education and a master’s in Christian education. She has worked with children since she was fourteen. Some of her experience includes day care worker, nanny, Christian after school program and homeschooling her own children.
She has also worked with children in the church she attends as well as helping as an administrator for one of their children’s programs and as a co-coordinator with her husband for a very large Christmas program at their church.
The Imago School is a classical school for grades Pre-Kindergarten through 10th and growing, deeply rooted in the Christian Tradition of classical education. The Imago School is located in Maynard, Massachusetts, and was founded in 1980.
