What’s Happening for Students at Imago

Students Events Page

All School Picnic

This is an all school family social event on our school property that provides a great opportunity to get to know other Imago families. We encourage everyone to attend with their extended family (ie.: siblings, grandparents are also welcome). Imago alumni and their families often join us as well. It is a potluck meal with previously assigned food contributions, while the school provides hamburgers and hot-dogs, as well as beverages. This is a lovely, informal event that brings our whole Imago family together.

Thanksgiving Feast and Program

Our students enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast starting at 9 AM, being served by their teachers and volunteer parents. We kindly ask parents to sign up to bring food contributions for this meal as well as to help with setting up, serving, or cleaning up. Students can come dressed as pilgrims, Native Americans/Indians or in their normal school uniforms. This event is for students only.

The Feast is followed by our Thanksgiving Program, and we invite all our Imago families to join us for that. Every class presents either a Thanksgiving themed song, poem, or a short play. We finish the program with a special Thanksgiving Chapel service.

Lessons and Carols

The history of the “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” started in the 19th century in the Church of England. We draw on this rich and beautiful tradition every year as we celebrate the birth of Christ and hear the greatest story ever told in Scripture and in song. This service has always been a highlight of the Advent Season, and has a very special place in the life of our school.

Daddy-Daughter Dance

Every other year, we organize this event to offer an opportunity for Dads/Grandads/Guardians for a special evening of dancing and fun with their daughters/granddaughters.

Spring Play

This is our annual large scale theater production, featuring the Upper School and frequently involving grades 5-6 as well. We rent a nearby auditorium for this performance, a professional set is commissioned, and more often than not an orchestra is involved. We have a show on Friday night and sometimes a matinee on Saturday. Drama practices start in February and all students are required to participate. We have extra rehearsals scheduled for after school in the weeks leading up to the performance, with the dress rehearsal taking place on Thursday night before the show. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience the magic of theater, learn a variety of important skills, memorize long texts, learn to work as a team toward a tangible goal, and grow in confidence. This event is one of the highlights of the school year and both students and teachers put a lot of effort into making this a beautiful and memorable experience for all. This is also a great opportunity for parents who are inclined towards drama productions to volunteer: we always need help with building/breaking down the sets, tailoring costumes, helping with back stage, etc.

Jog-a-thon

This is our traditional running race with all classes participating. This is an opportunity for all students to push themselves to their limits, learn perseverance and cheer each other on. Parents are welcome to come, watch and cheer!

Commencement

We gather to give out our end of year diplomas and honor rolls to our graduating 8th graders, remember their years at Imago and we send them off with a charge. Our students participate in the musical part of the evening, and grade 4 students also offer a piece on hand bells.

Beach Day

This is our end of year all-school social event at the beautiful Leominster State Park. Parents supervise their children as teachers who are present are not on duty. There is ample opportunity for conversation, swimming, beach games, fishing, walking and BBQ.
